Traditional ruler of Ezigaragu Autonomous community in Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA of Imo State, HRH Eze Ezinna Emmanuel Madu has applauded the efforts of a nonprofit organization, Coalition of Eastern Non- Governmental Organizations (CENGOS).

In an interview recently in his palace, he stated that he was delighted to have worked with the selected  Community Educators in his area, to ensure that gender based violence is reduced to its barest minimum.

Recall that the project, which has support from Amplify Change, and is being implemented in collaboration with Civil Resource Development and Documentation Center (CIRRDOC), aims at reducing all forms of sexual and gender based violence.

It also seeks to educate people on their sexual and reproductive health rights.

The project has five community educators each, in the three senatorial zones of the State, who help to communicate the message of the dangers of sexual and gender based violence to members of the rural communities.

The traditional ruler, who said knowledge is power, added that he is satisfied with what CENGOS is doing in his community.

He informed that, as a result, they have passed a law in the community, that anyone found perpetrating any form of gender or sexual based violence, will be penalised and handed over to relevant authorities
